Renters Credit

Senator Glazer is fighting to increase the Renters Tax Credit to benefit more than 2 million low-income and middle-income Californians. The Credit has not been increased in over 40 years, while rents have more than tripled. Today the credit is just $60 for single people and $120 for married couples. Glazer's propsosal would increase that to $500 for single people and $1,000 for couples. Crucially, it would also give single parents the same $1,000 credit as couples get, since a parent with one or more children often needs more rooms and has higher housing costs than a childless couple.
