As Senator, Steve has shone the spotlight on corporate welfare and fought to end government giveaways to big business. He led the effort, joined by the California Labor Federation, to expose billions in shady deals through which cities give our sales tax dollars to big retailers to entice them to build warehouses that bring massive truck traffic, pollution and low-wage, non-union jobs to our communities.
As Controller, Steve will have a seat on the Franchise Tax Board, which administers the income tax, and the Board of Equalization, where he will fight to make sure Corporations pay their fair share of taxes.
